Blank Bottle Master of None

Blank Bottle Master of None 2023 comes from the Blankbottle project, the brainchild of South African winemaker Pieter H. Walser. Walser does not own vineyards but sources quality fruit from many sites across the Western Cape, including Wellington, Swartland, Stellenbosch, Darling and other regions. His focus is on creative, low-intervention winemaking that explores a wide range of varietals and styles. The Blank Bottle wines are typically made with spontaneous ferments and without animal derived fining agents.

The Master of None 2023 is an eclectic red blend that brings together a playful mix of red and white varieties, with key components including Grenache (often the largest proportion), Cinsault, Pinot Noir and alongside small amounts of white grapes Fernao Pires, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay. Fermented with a mix of whole bunch and destemmed fruit, the wine is juicy and vibrant with bright strawberry, cherry, herbaceous and earthy notes. Light to medium bodied and very drinkable, it pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, picnic foods, roasted vegetables and lighter fare, and can be served slightly chilled for a refreshing twist.
