Founded in 1959, Cantina Santa Maria La Palma is a co-op winery made up of 850 hectares, 300 farmers and is one of the most important wineries in Sardinia. Taking a special interest in the land and sustainability, the winery is currently 65% solar powered with the goal to be 100% in the next few years. While they produce many varietals, Vermentino di Sardegna is the most important grape to the winery and accounts for about 60% of the total wine production. This wine is made from 100% Vermentino and the grapes thrive on the warm, windy Sardinian sea climate which produces a savory white with balanced acidity. Expect to find tasting notes of white and yellow flowers and a touch of melon. This wine pairs well with fish and other seafood dishes.
