Founded by the Perez family in 1752, Castro Ventosa produces some of the best wines from Bierzo, Spain. Bierzo is surrounded by mountains creating its own unique microclimate. Quartzite and slate soils help the wine retain flavor while reducing acidity. The Perez family now has 75 hectares and hand harvests their grapes on one single day. They are then fermented in a combination of new and used oak barrels, and aged until the next harvest. This 100% Godello has lovely texture with notes of stone fruit, citrus, and minerality. El Castro de Valtuille pairs wonderfully with lobster tail or creamy garlic scallops.
