Cote de Fonroque St.-Emilion Grand Cru AOC 2016

Chteau Fonroque is the Saint-Emilion cradle of the Moueix family, acquired by Jean and Adle, great-grandparents of Alain Moueix, operator of this beautiful wine property.

Second son of a family of small farmers from Haute Corrze, Jean Moueix “moved” to Paris in the 1920s, where he successively opened with his wife Adle, one, then several dairy products businesses. A few years later, they bought Chteau Fonroque where they settled permanently. The decades that followed sealed the attachment of Jean and Adle Moueix, then of their eldest son Jean-Antoine, to the land of Fonroque. In the oldest archives, Fonroque has always been a wine-growing operation.
