Domaine Brana is a vineyard located in the small appellation of Iroulguy; within the Basque Country. The vines were planted in the mid 80s along the steep hillsides on a very narrow terrace. The estate is currently run by tienne Branas children: Jean and Martine. The farming is believed to be bio-diverse, and the vineyard is HVE certified. ‘HVE’ or Haut Valeur Environnementale is the French three-tiered system that focuses on increasing the biodiversity; while also decreasing the use of pesticides and fungicides. The white wine that is produced here is a blend of Petit Courbu (50%) and Gros Manseng (50%).The grapes are macerated on the skins before settling. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats and is finished in bottles. The nose introduces white fruit and floral notes with crisp minerality on the finish. Fresh seafood and cheese dishes would be a great pairing for this French white!
