Domaine des Closiers is the culimination of a lifelong dream for proprietor Anatole de la Brosse. While he enjoyed a long and successful career in consulting, Anatole’s first love was enology. In 2018, he was able to purchase the estate that would become Domaine des Closiers in the village of Parnay, known for its sloping hillside vineyards (unlike much of Saumur-Champigny, which is comparatively flat) which provide conditions for higher quality fruit development and concentration. The Cabernet Franc used in this bottling, along with the rest of Closers’ fruit, is also certified organic and biodynamic. ‘Les Closiers’ offers up elegant notes of black cherries, mulberries, tobacco leaf and forest floor and on the palate, is full-bodied, and seamlessly balanced. Pair with braised meats and vegetables or hard, aged cheeses.
