Evolucio is one of our favorite wineries! Located in the Sopron regino in Hungary, this area has deep roots in viticulture dating back to the 13th century when the region was a province of the Roman Empire. The Hungarians revitalized the vines and in the 17th century the city enacted a law banning the local sale of foreign wines as a way to protect local farmers. Olaszrizling is Hungary’s most widely planted white grape. It’s translation to ‘Italian Riesling’ can be a bit confusing since it is not related to Riesling nor is it Italian. However, it is on the aromatic side with notes of white flowers, citrus, pear and peaches. This wine is perfect for a pairing with a charcuterie board or a summer salad with grilled fish.
