Gota wines, producers of this Do Red, have made this light, elegant wine to honor this regions specialty fruit, Cova da Beira cherries. With 80% Jaen grapes, and the remainder a mix of indigenous varietals, the expression of fruits is juicy, fresh, and soft with an unmistakable Portuguese flair. The wine is friendly with plenty of personality. It spends 6 months in French and Portuguese oak barrels followed by minimum 6 months in the bottle. The nose suggests plums, mulberries, blackberries, and anise. Tasting reveals the aforementioned dark cherries along with raspberry, creamy chocolate, and a touch of oak. Enjoy this easy red on a picnic with Portuguese delights like pork croquettes and crispy potatoes.
