Jose and Julia Garcia are a husband and wife team who are not only committed to organic farming practices, but who also share a reverence for tradition and who seek to preserve varietals like Prieto Picudo. This dark-skinned grape is often likened to Tempranillo and is an almost-forgotten varietal despite having a long history in the region of Tierra de Len. Dark plum, blackberries, bitter cocoa and a touch of wet forest floor, underlined by soft tannins and stellar acidity make for a well-balanced, medium bodied wine that would pair beautifully with steak fajitas or grilled vegetables.
