The Moncuit family traces their grape growing history in the Champagne region back to the late nineteenth century and began bottling estate-grown Champagnes in the early 1950s. They are a quintessential, classic Blanc de Blanc producer, focused intently on bringing out the best in each single vintage Grand Cru. Said to be a great defender of a style that emphasizes the fullest expression of terroir in each wine and with no barrels on site, they use exclusively stainless steel, then age this Cuvee for 9 years before releasing. The minimum 90-year-old vines deserve a longer aging, and the wine is now believed to be at its prime drinkability until the late 2020s.
The 2006 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuve Nicole VV emerges from old vines in Les Chtillons, one of the most renowned lieu-dits in Mesnil. This wine is only made during Great Vintages and features incomparable purity of fruits like candied pineapple and passion fruit. Light spices, dried flowers, and subtle nuttiness make an appearance. A mineral lightness plays on the finish. It is a mature, complex Champagne with a Dosage of 3.5 grams per liter.
