This Italian winery has a rich history dating back to the 16th century. It was owned by many prominent Italian families before being purchased by California wine visionary Jess Jackson and his wife Barbara Banke in 1994. The area the winery resides in was once home to the ancient Etruscan civilization and in honor of its history, the word ‘Arceno’ is an Estrucan word meaning ‘point of origin’. This savory red is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and spends almost 12 months in French oak barrels. Tasting notes include violets, plums, cherries and orange peel complemented by licorice, cedar and smoke. This wine would pair well with a rich red pasta sauce or a veal dish.
