Winemaking is a Maccan family tradition which goes back three generations, however it wasn’t until attending a wine tasting in his 20’s that Stefano Maccan’s interest in wine was ignited. He decided to continue the family tradition while creating his own wine, and in 2012 Tenuta Maccan was established on a 23 hectare estate in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia. Certified sustainable, and utilizing organic farming techniques Maccan seeks to honor the family tradition while innovating for the future. Their Cab Franc grows in calcareous-clay soils, and is slow-fermented at controlled temperatures. It is then aged for 8-10 months in stainless steel tanks. A rich, velvety red with flavors of black and green pepper, violets, grilled poblanos, plums and raspberries. Drink now, or it can be aged up to 5 years. Pair with charcuterie.
